Curriculum

The LAB curriculum is designed and supervised by experienced professors and alumni from Thunderbird School of Global Management and along with several other American universities, all following Thunderbird's traditional tripartite curriculum. The LAB Program's curriculum consists of these three parts:
A. Acquisition of Business Chinese Language: to acquire all levels of business Chinese language and critical trust-building Chinese business etiquette.
B. Business Immersion: to learn the best business practices in China, including those in multinationals and local Chinese, and Chinese business environment.
C. Culture Immersion: to understand Chinese rich culture, history and value system, and fully communicate effectively with the Chinese.

In addition to language classes, the LAB program offers three content courses:
1) A series on how to do business in China.
2) A series on understanding China's business environment and political landscape.
3) A series on communicating effectively with the Chinese.

Both the lectures and language instruction are delivered with high level of student participation and interaction.

Coursework ¨C Business Program
Spring and Fall semester, weekly 10-12 hours language class, plus three 45 contact hours content courses.
Summer Semester, weekly 12 hours language class.

Cultural Orientation
A mandatory cultural orientation session will be conducted at the beginning of the program, introduces students to the country, the culture and the academic program and other events, and also provides practical information about living in Beijing, and let students know how to capitalize on the study in china. Orientation is maintained on an individual and group basisi throughout the program.

Instructional Format
Language Courses:
Small group drill and conversation
One-on-one teaching and tutoring
2:1 student teacher ratio

Content Courses:
Case study, discussion and lectures
